4 Steps to a Beautiful AZEK Deck

Castlehaven Construction

We’ve written on this topic before, but it bears repeating. Cleaning AZEK decks is so simple once you know the tools of the trade.

AZEK Porch and Deck Boards provide the perfect space for entertaining and enjoying quality time with the family. You need only clean them periodically to maintain their comfortable surface and the beauty of their wood-grain texture.

AZEK’s cellular PVC structure resists stains, including wet leaves, wine, even ketchup. You don’t have to worry about grain loss or scratching, either, thanks to the product’s strong dense surface. It can even withstand high heels and dog paws!

While all of these features yield a beautiful deck, many customers have questions about how to clean their AZEK deck properly. Use this quick and simple guide to get ready for summer by keeping your AZEK deck long-lasting and looking its best.

4 Steps to a Beautiful AZEK Deck
  1. Use an all-purpose cleaner to clean your AZEK deck or porch. Be sure not to use the cleaners at full strength — dilute them by 50%. Krud Kutter Cleaner/Degreaser is a good choice. Use it with a stiff natural fiber brush. Avoid abrasive cleaners as they can dull the surface of your new deck. Before applying to your deck, read the cleaning product manufacturers’ information for additional information.
  2. If you can, test the cleaner on a scrap piece or even an inconspicuous area of your deck to be sure it won’t damage the surface. Do not allow cleaner to dry on the deck surface — clean smaller areas at a time and rinse often.
  3. For rust stain removal: Use a household cleaner containing phosphoric acid, such as a toilet bowl cleaner, and rinse with a hose.
  4. For ice removal: You may use rock salt or calcium chloride without worrying about damage. However, these may leave a white residue, which you can clean using the tips above.
